Travel Health with Travelwise
Another service brought to you by Singapore Airlines for on board
health and comfort, Travelwise introduces the passenger to
various relaxation and stretching techniques to enhance physical
and mental well-being during the flight.
The series of easy head-to-toe exercises utilises the techniques
of Pilates, an increasingly popular body and mind conditioning programme
that promotes an overall state of wellness. In line with Pilates'
key principles of low-impact, resistance control exercises and special
breathing techniques. All the exercises in the clip are also suitable
to be done in the confines of your cabin.
The video guides passengers, step-by-step, through various exercises
targeted at different areas of the body, most importantly, the deep
muscles and the spine. Enhanced blood circulation, a better-balanced
nervous system, as well as relief from joint, neck and back pains
are some of the benefits travelers can experience after this brief
but concentrated workout.
The content in Travelwise has been developed in consultation
with Alvin Giam, Studio Director of Pilates Bodyworks, the first
full-fledged studio in Singapore and Asia dedicated to this fitness
regime. Mr. Giam is the only instructor in Asia certified by master
Pilates teacher Ron Fletcher, who was the last active protégé
of Joseph and Clara Pilates - the original creators of this proven
exercise method. He has also studied with other master teachers
and is able to bring forth a broader and wider repertoire of the
Pilates works to the public.
If you enjoy the exercises on Travelwise and wish to explore
and experience the benefits of Pilates further, the Pilates Bodyworks
studio is an ideal starting point. The studio advocates discipline
of movements and precise instructions, according to an individually
customised Pilates programme for each client. It has generated numerous
accolades from its students. And don't forget to catch Travelwise
on the Documentary or Bulletin Channel.
